YOUTH+ for social inclusion
Development and training of professionals in the field of youth by supporting self-managed initiatives arising from groups of young people in a situation or risk of social vulnerability through the From Us to You method (FUY).
The YOUTH+ project’s main mission is to develop and train professionals in the field of youth to support and accompany self-managed initiatives from groups of young people in situations or risk of social vulnerability.
The project is coordinated by the Hungarian organization Élményakadémia in collaboration with ABD in Spain, Via Kreation in Germany and OBR in Romania. The initiative, financed by the European program Erasmus+ KA2, will be carried out from November 2021 to February 2024 through various specific actions both at international and local level.
Needs Assessment
The intention of the YOUTH+ project is to provide greater autonomy, initiative and independence to young people in a situation or risk of social vulnerability through the From Us to You methodology (FUY) so that they are capable of carrying out self-managed non-formal long-term learning activities . This initiative will link young people with the local community and they will become active agents of their own reality, a fact that will help them analyze this reality and will be able to modify it at an individual and collective level.
All this is of vital importance in the current Spanish context since youth suffer from various social problems derived from increased isolation due to the global pandemic and situations of marginalization due to socioeconomic and sociocultural factors. The YOUTH+ project will serve as a bridge of resolute support in the face of this problem that pushes young people to accept a reality that denies them a conscious participation and with their own voice.
In addition, the project will focus on developing the skills of professionals who work with young people through their training in the use of mixed methods of non-formal education, online learning courses and intervention tools such as: promotion of volunteering, role-modeling, learning among peers/leadership, mentoring.
Main Activities and Results
The Consortium will implement several activities to reach the objectives such as Workshops, Training Courses, Local volunteer days, Evaluation activities, Webinars, Mentoring activities, Local and International dissemination events, Communication Campaigns, among others. The Results will be Online course (MOOC), aimed at professionals who work with young people, in order to share experiences and practices between partner organizations and through the FUY method of good practices that includes role-modeling, volunteering and empowerment for the development of people’s skills and groups of young people in vulnerable situations; and the Guide and Toolkit, aimed at youth professionals and youth organizations which will contain all the necessary steps and approach methodologies that will ensure the creation and long-term sustainability of youth groups, training the professionals who will work with them.
