Global Districts takes part in the DEAR programme Exchange Hub in Brussels to “Rebuild hope”

Between November 12th and 14th, Global Districts was present at the DEAR programme Exchange Hub that took place in Brussels, to interact and learn from other EU funded projects. Under the title “Rebuilding hope and grassroots narratives”, participants had the opportunity to share what each project is working on to reconnect citizens with hope and the values of global citizenship and counter the growing polarisation and public distrust in democracy and institutions.

16 projects came together at the DEAR – Development Education & Awareness Raising – Programme Exchange Hub in Brussels on the 12-14th of November, one of them being Global Districts. For three days, participants shared the general development of their projects and reflected on grassroots initiatives to reach broader less sensitised audiences, the use of hope-based narratives to tackle polarization and global inequalities, and were able to learn and train tools like “radical listening”  or Youth4Foresight to foster dialogue and map pathways from current challenges to hopeful futures. In addition, the meeting was useful to strengthen the links between grassroots organisations and larger Global Citizenship Education actors for sustained impact.

With this meeting, we strengthened our commitment to education and global challenges to improve the participation of socially excluded groups in civic spaces. Furthermore, we learned and put into practice new tools to share with CSO’s and youth groups who offer a holistic and human approach in front of this exclusion.
