The EU Food Security HUB<\/a> project closes its first year with a highlight on the efforts made to address sustainability and food security.<\/p>\n\n

In this initial phase, the consortium carried out\u00a0a participatory action analysis to delineate <\/span>professional pathways for green jobs<\/b>. This involved comprehensive questionnaires to compile the collective expertise of partners, curation of around 20 best practices, and an in-depth analysis of competencies among VET professionals within each practice. This collaborative effort has culminated in the development of a draft of the <\/span>Competence Framework<\/b>, expected to be released at the beginning of 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In addition, the partner organizations have started to develop the cross-sector <\/span>Food Security VET Training Program<\/b>. This program is scheduled for testing in 2024 during the <\/span>Exchanges and Peer-Learning Workshops <\/b>across five locations: El Prat de Llobregat, Palermo, Aubagne, Piacenza, and Athens. Additionally, complementary training materials, including an<\/span> online open course<\/b> and a<\/span> Toolkit for professionals<\/b>, are beginning to take form and will also undergo testing during these workshops.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Dissemination activities have kicked off, such as the <\/span>project website<\/span><\/a> launch and the showcasing of best practices in sustainable agriculture and food sustainability, primarily through <\/span>Instagram<\/span><\/a>. Meanwhile, EQU with partners’ support, has initiated efforts toward <\/span>EU Guidelines<\/b> aiding local governments in establishing or reinforcing approaches to tackle food insecurity.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

European meeting \u2018Food for Thought\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

<\/div>\n\n

Finally, it’s worth highlighting the <\/span>European meeting \u201cFood For Thought\u201d<\/b> which took place in Milan in July, allowing the partner organizations to exchange ideas between them and with experts in the food and agriculture field. The event featured three itineraries<\/strong>: the first one focused on training for food security, emphasizing support for vulnerable beneficiaries, combating stigma, and ensuring training sustainability; the second one addressed challenges in food security, including funding limitations, social awareness, and involving local governments; and the third itinerary centered on advocating for food security in local councils, raising awareness about its benefits, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, exploring local governments’ role, and establishing a pan-European network for change. <\/span><\/p>\n\n

The \u201cFood For Thought\u201d meeting invited associations to introduce their good practices and initiatives, such as <\/span>Ciauli Coop<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Espigoladors<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Cosmonauti A.P.S.<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Projecte Alimenta<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>La Botiga<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Bugday Dinergi<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>EkoRozwoju Foundation<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Anadolu Meralar\u0131<\/span><\/a>, among others. The event also counted relevant profiles from the <\/span>Milan Urban Food Policy Pact<\/span><\/a> (<\/span>Municipality of Milan<\/span><\/a>), <\/span>Barcelona City Council<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>El Prat de Llobregat City Council<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Palermo Municipality<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Barcelona University<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The EU Food Security Hub project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, is running from January 2023 and June 2025, in collaboration with: <\/span>IASIS<\/span><\/a> (Greece); <\/span>Land Impresa sociale<\/span><\/a> (Italy); <\/span>Estrategies de Qualitat Urbana<\/span><\/a> (Spain);\u00a0 <\/span>ACRA<\/span><\/a> (Italy); <\/span>Reseau International Urgenci<\/span><\/a> (France). <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
